Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets forth the rules and guidelines for using the GigaConnect platform. It supplements our Terms of Service and applies to all Users, including Freelancers, Clients, and Hybrid users. By using GigaConnect, you agree to comply with this policy.

1. Overview

GigaConnect is committed to maintaining a safe, professional, and inclusive environment for all Users. This Acceptable Use Policy exists to protect the integrity of the platform, the safety of our community, and the quality of interactions between Users.

All Users are expected to conduct themselves with professionalism, honesty, and respect. Violations of this policy may result in warnings, temporary suspensions, or permanent account termination, depending on the severity and frequency of the violation.

2. Permitted Use

GigaConnect may be used for the following legitimate purposes:

  • Freelancers: Creating professional profiles, browsing and searching for job opportunities, submitting proposals, performing contracted work, delivering projects, receiving payments, selling digital products, participating in the community feed, and building professional connections.
  • Clients: Posting job listings, searching for and hiring freelancers, managing contracts and milestones, reviewing deliverables, making payments through escrow, purchasing digital products, posting in the community feed, and building professional connections.
  • All Users: Communicating with other Users through the messaging system for legitimate business purposes, leaving honest reviews and ratings, sharing professional updates, endorsing skills, and utilizing AI-powered recommendations.

Users should use the platform in a manner consistent with its intended purpose as a professional freelance marketplace and networking platform.

3. Prohibited Activities

The following activities are strictly prohibited on GigaConnect. This list is not exhaustive; GigaConnect reserves the right to determine, in its sole discretion, whether conduct violates the spirit of this policy.

3.1 Fraud & Misrepresentation

  • Creating fake or misleading profiles with false identity information, fabricated work history, or exaggerated credentials.
  • Submitting portfolio items or work samples that were not created by you (plagiarism).
  • Misrepresenting your skills, qualifications, certifications, or experience level.
  • Posting fake or misleading job listings with no intention of hiring.
  • Using someone else's identity, credentials, or likeness without authorization.
  • Creating fictitious testimonials, reviews, or endorsements.
  • Operating multiple accounts to manipulate the platform or circumvent restrictions.

3.2 Review Manipulation

  • Writing or soliciting fake reviews to artificially inflate or deflate ratings.
  • Offering or accepting payment, discounts, or other incentives in exchange for positive reviews.
  • Coordinating with other Users to exchange favorable reviews (review swaps).
  • Posting retaliatory reviews in response to legitimate negative feedback.
  • Using multiple accounts to leave multiple reviews on the same profile or product.

3.3 Payment & Fee Circumvention

  • Exchanging personal contact information (email, phone, social media) with the intent to transact outside GigaConnect for relationships established through the platform.
  • Encouraging or facilitating off-platform payments to avoid GigaConnect service fees.
  • Using the platform solely for lead generation without intent to transact through GigaConnect.
  • Issuing fraudulent chargebacks or payment disputes.
  • Using stolen or unauthorized payment methods.

3.4 Spam & Unsolicited Communications

  • Sending unsolicited bulk messages, promotional content, or advertisements to other Users.
  • Posting repetitive, irrelevant, or promotional content in the community feed.
  • Submitting mass proposals that are not tailored to the specific job listing (template spamming).
  • Using the messaging system for purposes unrelated to legitimate business on the platform.
  • Posting links to external services or competitors for promotional purposes.

3.5 Harassment & Discrimination

  • Engaging in any form of harassment, bullying, intimidation, or threats against other Users.
  • Making unwelcome sexual advances, inappropriate comments, or requests for personal relationships.
  • Discriminating against Users based on race, ethnicity, color, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic.
  • Using hate speech, slurs, or derogatory language targeting any individual or group.
  • Doxxing (publishing private information about another User without their consent).
  • Stalking or persistently contacting a User after they have indicated they do not wish to communicate.

3.6 Illegal & Harmful Activities

  • Soliciting or performing work that is illegal in any applicable jurisdiction.
  • Posting or requesting services related to hacking, malware creation, phishing, or other cybercrime.
  • Soliciting or facilitating money laundering, fraud, or financial crimes.
  • Posting content that promotes violence, self-harm, terrorism, or exploitation.
  • Distributing or soliciting the creation of content depicting minors in any harmful context.
  • Offering or soliciting academic dishonesty services (exam cheating, ghost-writing academic work).

3.7 Technical Abuse

  • Attempting to gain unauthorized access to other Users' accounts, GigaConnect systems, or third-party systems through the platform.
  • Using automated tools (bots, scrapers, crawlers) to access the platform without written permission.
  • Attempting to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service.
  • Intentionally introducing viruses, worms, or other malicious code.
  • Conducting denial-of-service attacks or actions designed to degrade platform performance.
  • Exploiting bugs, glitches, or vulnerabilities rather than reporting them through our responsible disclosure program.

3.8 Intellectual Property Violations

  • Uploading content that infringes the copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, or other intellectual property rights of third parties.
  • Offering pirated software, cracked applications, or unauthorized copies of digital products.
  • Removing or altering watermarks, copyright notices, or attribution from others' work.
  • Using GigaConnect's trademarks, logos, or branding in unauthorized ways.

4. Content Standards

All content posted on GigaConnect, including profile information, portfolio items, job listings, proposals, messages, reviews, feed posts, and digital products, must adhere to the following standards:

4.1 Accuracy & Honesty

  • Content must be truthful, accurate, and not misleading.
  • Profile information must represent you (or your organization) accurately.
  • Job listings must reflect genuine projects with realistic budgets and requirements.
  • Proposals must honestly represent your ability to deliver the requested work.
  • Reviews must be based on genuine experiences and written by the actual party to the contract.

4.2 Professionalism

  • Content should maintain a professional tone appropriate for a business platform.
  • Avoid excessive use of caps lock, exclamation marks, or other attention-grabbing formatting tactics.
  • Profile photos should be professional and clearly show your face (for individual users) or your company logo (for organizations).
  • Content should be written in clear, understandable language.

4.3 Prohibited Content

  • Sexually explicit, pornographic, or obscene material.
  • Content that promotes violence, hatred, or discrimination.
  • Graphic depictions of injury, death, or cruelty.
  • Content designed to shock, disgust, or offend without legitimate purpose.
  • Personal attacks or defamatory statements about other Users.
  • Misleading or clickbait content designed to deceive users.
  • Content that violates the privacy of others (sharing private messages, personal information).

5. Communication Standards

All communications on the platform, including messages, comments, and reviews, should adhere to the following guidelines:

  • Respect: Treat all Users with courtesy, professionalism, and respect, regardless of the outcome of a project or interaction.
  • Responsiveness: Respond to messages related to active contracts or proposals within a reasonable timeframe (generally within 24 hours on business days).
  • Clarity: Communicate project requirements, expectations, and feedback clearly and constructively.
  • Confidentiality: Do not share private conversations, contract details, or proprietary information outside the context in which it was shared.
  • Constructive Feedback: When providing feedback or reviews, focus on specific, actionable observations rather than personal attacks or vague criticism.
  • Appropriate Channels: Use platform messaging for business communications. Do not solicit personal contact information unless necessary for project execution after a contract is in place.

6. Account Integrity

To maintain the trust and integrity of the platform, Users must adhere to the following account requirements:

  • One Account: Each individual or entity may maintain only one active GigaConnect account.
  • Personal Use: Your account is personal to you and may not be transferred, sold, or shared with others.
  • Credentials: You must keep your login credentials secure and not share them with third parties.
  • Accurate Information: You must keep your profile information up to date and accurate.
  • Verification: You must complete identity verification when requested by GigaConnect.
  • Compliance: You must comply with all applicable laws, including tax obligations related to income earned through the platform.

7. Enforcement & Penalties

GigaConnect takes violations of this Acceptable Use Policy seriously. We employ a combination of automated systems, AI-powered fraud detection, and human review to detect and address violations.

7.1 Enforcement Actions

Depending on the nature and severity of the violation, we may take one or more of the following actions:

Level 1: WarningFormal warning via email with explanation of the violation. Content may be removed. Account flagged for monitoring.
Level 2: Temporary RestrictionTemporary restriction of specific features (e.g., messaging, proposal submission, job posting). Duration: 7 to 30 days depending on severity.
Level 3: SuspensionFull account suspension for 30 to 90 days. Active contracts may be paused. User must acknowledge violation and agree to comply before reinstatement.
Level 4: TerminationPermanent account termination. User banned from creating new accounts. Funds held pending dispute resolution. Violation may be reported to law enforcement if applicable.

7.2 Immediate Termination

The following violations will result in immediate account termination without prior warning:

  • Payment fraud or use of stolen payment methods.
  • Identity theft or impersonation.
  • Distribution of malware or conducting cyberattacks.
  • Any activity involving the exploitation of minors.
  • Terrorism-related activities or promotion of violence.
  • Repeated creation of accounts after previous termination.

7.3 Appeals

If you believe an enforcement action was taken in error, you may appeal by emailing appeals@gigaconnect.com within fourteen (14) days of the action. Your appeal should include your account details and a clear explanation of why you believe the action was unwarranted. We will review appeals and respond within ten (10) business days.

8. Reporting Violations

If you encounter behavior or content that violates this Acceptable Use Policy, we encourage you to report it promptly. Reports can be submitted through the following channels:

  • In-Platform Reporting: Use the "Report" button available on profiles, messages, job listings, proposals, reviews, and feed posts.
  • Email: Send detailed reports to abuse@gigaconnect.com with relevant screenshots, URLs, and descriptions.
  • Security Issues: For security vulnerabilities, please use our responsible disclosure process at security@gigaconnect.com.

All reports are reviewed confidentially. We do not disclose the identity of reporters to the reported party unless required by law. We aim to acknowledge reports within 24 hours and complete our review within five (5) business days.

Please note that filing false or malicious reports is itself a violation of this policy and may result in enforcement action against your account.
